How well are students in your school district performing on achievement tests in comparison with other districts in Pennsylvania? What are the trends throughout the state -- have scores been rising or falling over the past decade?
Is there any correlation between per student spending and levels of student achievement?
The SCHOOL PERFORMANCE database provides test results from the Pennsylvania Standards of School Assessments (PSSA) for the most recent year, and with historical trends. The percentage of students proficient in reading and math exams can be viewed by school district (or charter school), by grade, and by certain categories like race, gender, and income.
With these data, Pennsylvania taxpayers can access student achievement stats for their school districts. These data, coupled with data from other openPAgov.org applications, will help to form a clear picture of how well Pennsylvania students are being educated -- and how much it is costing to do so.
